Shop preparation - Part 3

Modified EAA standard worktable
I was in need of a table for my new belt-sander, grinder, band saw, and soon-to-be lathe, and apparently someone in EAA Chapter 1000 had already come up with a decent workbench design 20 years ago. Believe it or not, the design is still floating around on the web.

Example of original EAA workbench

The original table is 2’ x 5’, but I needed one that was 39” square, and able to hold around 350lbs of machinery, so I modified the dimensions and strengthened it.

The Master plan

Total cost was around $100, using the more expensive plywood.

All the materials necessary for the table

"Measure once... cut twice!" Doh!

Reinforced frame holding itself together (legs aren't fastened yet)

It's always good to have a helper (thank God for Spring break)

Finished table earning its keep!
