Ch. 5 - Landing Gear mounts - Part 3

LMGA assemblies (2.0 hrs)
Finally something easy to make!
The tubes that support the landing gear bow were pretty straight forward to build.
Basically I put the 4130 steel tube in the lathe, and sanded it down to a smooth metal finish, then knurled the surface (with a knurling attachment), cut them to size (with a parting attachment), and finally faced and beveled the ends.

Raw tube next to finished LMGA, with bushings and bolt.

Same thing, different view.

LMGA assemblies with landing gear mounts extrusions (still unfinished).

Same thing, different view.

The fit is really tight and gives me a warm fuzzy feeling that nothing is going to come loose anytime soon.
