LMGA assemblies (2.0 hrs)
Finally something easy to make!
The tubes that support the landing gear bow were pretty straight forward to build.
Basically I put the 4130 steel tube in the lathe, and sanded it down to a smooth metal finish, then knurled the surface (with a knurling attachment), cut them to size (with a parting attachment), and finally faced and beveled the ends.
Raw tube next to finished LMGA, with bushings and bolt. |
Same thing, different view. |
LMGA assemblies with landing gear mounts extrusions (still unfinished). |
Same thing, different view. |
The fit is really tight and gives me a warm fuzzy feeling that nothing is going to come loose anytime soon.
